This slide is engraved in American Scroll with a stippled background to bring out the intricacy of the cuts. The cuts were then inked to really make them pop. Inking is a great idea for stainless guns to bring out the detail work.
This customer only wanted the slide engraved so it was a relatively inexpensive way to add some custom charm to this everyday carry gun.

This is a recent work of mine featuring approximately 50% coverage on a Browning Citori shotgun. The engraving is done in the American Scroll style and is set up to highlight the golden Browning logo in the center of the action.
In this particular case, the cuts were left bright at the request of the customer. I can also ink the cuts for those who prefer their engraving to pop!
The Citori is an outgrowth of the classic Browning superposed over-and-under shotgun. It’s a much more modern design which features a lower barrel access than the previous Browning over-and-unders.
It features a versatile action that can be used on both field and target guns.
It makes for an extremely fast handling and lightweight shotgun.
American Scroll engraving dates back to the 1850s and is based on earlier Germanic scrollwork. This particular style was made popular in the United States by such engravers as Nimschke, Gustave Young, and the Ulrich Clan.

Here’s a shotgun that’s a little different from what I’ve been working on recently. It’s a lever-action 410 that features American Scroll style engraving with a hunter, pointer hound, and a pheasant on one side. The off-side features American Scroll style engraving and a Ruffed Grouse.
The butt-plate also features the client’s ranch brand as a nice personalized touch.
The engraving really dresses up this little shotgun! The cuts on the brass frame are inked to make the engraving really pop!
Engraving such as this really adds character to the body of the gun without breaking the bank. This coverage would run anywhere from the $500 – $600 range.
These photos further show the Smith & Wesson 686 fully assembled, inked, and complete!
This is an extremely elegant American Scroll finished revolver with the addition of relief-carving. There are few Smith & Wesson 686’s that are fancier or more extensively engraved than this revolver!
These photos show this Model 36 Smith & Wesson, that was previously posted as a work in progress, as a finished and inked revolver! This is a very early pre-Model 36 and it’s a very first of the J-frame Chief Specials. The gun features absolute full-coverage American Scroll-style engraving with full-coverage domed-punch background.
These photos show a modern interpretation of the Hepburn rifle. These are very popular as both target and hunting rifles. However, today, most of them are used for target work.
The engraving shows an amount of coverage that would have been typical of either a hunting or target rifle of the 1890s. This style of engraving is known as American Scroll.
I can do any kind of engraving or scrollwork that you would require!
This particular engraving would run about $500.
It should be noted that this gun was in the white (not blued or case-hardened), this can add to the overall cost.
We do a lot of engraving for both cowboy action shooters and SASS shooters, as well as long range and scheutzen shooters. This allows your guns to not only stand out on the firing line, but also in the rack, and on the loading tables! It makes it easy to identify your firearm from all of the others.
Engraving adds a great personal touch to the firearm and connects you to a time since-past, when the well-heeled shooter had their guns customized.
This little action was in rough shape when I received it. It’s had the surfaces trued up and pitting has been removed. The engraving adds a nice finishing touch to a classic boys rifle from the turn-of-the-last century. The engraving adds a bit of class to what, otherwise, would be a very plain rifle.
This is a stainless steel model of the classic Model 46 Smith & Wesson. This makes for a very practical and classy carry pistol. Being a semi-hammerless, it doesn’t hang up in your pocket. The other nickname for this model is the Humpback. This allows for quite a large area for engraving on such a small J-frame revolver!
This Browning Hi-Power is fully engraved in American Scroll style engraving. These pistols were the very first Wonder-9’s, dating back to 1935. The design is still in production to this day and makes for a very classy everyday-carry gun. This particular gun will eventually get fancy grips and should be quite the barbecue gun. Carrying a fully engraved classic handgun, like this, makes a statement of absolute quality!
